The Pain• The conscious engagement of the health care delivery system is
often a high risk ‘trust walk’, requiring frequent acts of blind faith, in an uncertain sea of cost and quality ‘outcomes’ variability.
• Informed choice, i.e., consumer or patient empowerment with respect to quality, price and access alternatives, are frequently an exercise in futility due to an embedded culture of hierarchical paternalism, redundant layers of purposeful industry opacity, and a hostile legal and regulatory climate.

The Remedy• Build and brand a national footprint of ‘digital’ or ‘social’
media friendly professional and institutional health care providers from emerging local and regional clusters of traditional (insurance billing and collections practices), and emerging alternative models, i.e., ACOs, and direct medical practices, including patient centered medical homes.
• Terms of provider participation in the local, regional and national network require commitments to price, quality and access transparency, within the limits of current law; and
• A proactive commitment to address the needs of this growing yet under-served market.
