• Alcohol and drug abuse treatment• Services for those with both substance abuse and

mental health issues• Treatment services for adolescents and families• Specialized services for women• Domestic violence offender treatment

• Founded in Greeley in 1974; in Larimer County since 2003

• Fort Collins and Loveland offices serve more than 2,000 Larimer County residents each year

• In Larimer County, 2/3 of clients are male, 1/3 female

• 21% of clients are under age 21• 71% of clients are Caucasian, 25% Latino, 4%

African-American, Native American or other

• 1 in 15 Larimer County adults acknowledge chronic alcohol use; 1 in 5 admit to binge drinking in the past month

• In Poudre Schools, more than 1/2 of all high school students have consumed alcohol in the past month, and just under 1/3 have used marijuana

• The number of individuals seeking treatment for meth addiction more than doubled between 2003 and 2005, from 122 to 264 individuals

More Community Needs• Two-thirds of those with substance abuse issues

also have history of depression or other mental illness

• 15,800 Larimer County residents needing substance abuse/mental health treatment are not receiving help

• Larimer County’s domestic violence shelters receive a total of more than 2,000 crisis calls each year

• Larimer County officials make more than 500 arrests for domestic violence each year

Changing ValuesOur treatment models emphasize:• Treating self and others with dignity and respect• Accepting responsibility for the consequences of

behavior• Identifying maladaptive coping mechanisms• Finding alternative coping strategies• Making connection between identity and behavior

Changing Lives• We use evidence-based methods and curriculum

and are licensed by the Colorado Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division

• We offer intensive treatment involving family education and recovery skill building

• By the end of treatment, 80% of clients achieve reduction in drug and alcohol use and 60-80% experience improved relationships, education/employment and physical health

• Our treatment promotes awareness of spiritual needs

Changing the Community• We strengthen the community by strengthening

individuals and families, helping them become contributing members

• Our services reduce the need for emergency medical care, homeless shelters and incarceration

• Every dollar spent on substance abuse treatment and recovery saves the community $4 to $12 in emergency and related interventions (California Drug and Alcohol Treatment Assessment)

Faith-Based Treatment• Working to identify and implement faith-based

treatment models with demonstrated success in improving lives

• Faith-based treatments will be available as an option for all our clients

• Faith-based treatments will meet the same evidence-based standards as our other treatments

Treatment Scholarships• Cost is the primary barrier to treatment for many

individuals, even with our sliding fee scale• In 2006, 75% of our Larimer County clients

earned less than 125% of the poverty level• Colorado ranks 49th in the nation for public

funding of substance abuse treatment• A donation of $180 will pay half the cost of 12

treatment sessions for one individual

Change for Life Drive• Funds raised provide general support for Island

Grove’s services in your community• Congregation members take home a Change for

Life container and return the container filled with spare change

• Change for Life drive can take place during any 4-week period convenient for your congregation
