Intent to Contribute Statement:

Visual expression of how caregivers within KP San Francisco’s Periop department live and care about patients

with the knowledge and forethought use of the Caring Science Theory as a daily practice.

We are excited and honored to be a team member of such an organization like Kaiser Permanente San Francisco

as it continues and leads the future of nursing with the foundation of the Caring Science at its forefront practice.

We in the Peri Operative Service are pleased to be only one aspect and facet of the whole. We also understand

the importance of living the Caring Science every day as not just a conception but as a way of nursing, caring, and

promoting the Kaiser philosophy of THRIVE.

Caritas into Action: Our daily activities in the Peri-op areas not only allow for the integration of the Caring

Science, we strive to live it everyday. As our entry will show the differing levels of care provided to our patients in

their differing stages of surgery, from outpatient to inpatient and GI to cataract surgery; our patients require

different aspects of the Caring Science Philosophy and the 10 different processes to ensure an environment of

healing, care, progression and acceptance.

… ContinuedEach of these processes can be found and summed up in a single day...Operation Access. I hesitate to boast

about our success at Kaiser San Francisco into only one day, but the fact that we at Kaiser San Francisco live and

care about our patients, especially in the Periop Services Department, with the knowledge and forethought use

of the Caring Science Theory as a daily practice, can only ensure or patients and our members the best care

possible, and we do it a hundred time a day.
