VOCAL GENRE● VOCAL MUSIC is a type of music performed by one or more singers. A choir is group of singers. It is not combined with instruments.

INSTRUMENTAL GENRE

● INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC is all the music performed by one or more instruments. There are a lot of types of instrumental agrupations.

●VARIATIONS OF INSTRUMENTAL GENRE

Pure music ● This type of

music is composed only to be played as music. For example, a symphony.

Descriptive music

● This type of music represents extra-musical contextthat are not directly related to music.

RELIGIOUS GENRE● It is a type of music composed for

performance as part of religious ceremonies. It can be played by an instrument or by an human voice.

●VARIATIONS OF RELIGIOUS GENRE

Liturgical music

● This type of music is composed exclusively for religious ceremonies, as a part of liturgy, for example the Gregorian chant.

Non-liturgical music

● It is almost the same that liturgical music but it isn´t part of the liturgy.

PROFANE GENRE● It is a type of music that doesn´t have a

religious porpuse. It can be played with a musical instrument or with a human voice.

VARIATIONS OF RELIGIOUS GENRE

Popular music

Folk music: it is a type of music from a specific area and from anonymous sources.

Light music: it is a type of music that is simple and easy to understand music.

Cultured music

● It is a type of music that are written in a specific period. They reflect the cultural context of of the time and the composer´s personal thoughts.

FUNCTIONAL GENRES

● It is a type of music usedin important events, such us commemorations and opening ceremonies, for example the Olympic hymn.

CINEMATOGRAPHIC GENRE

● It ais a type of music used in the films to maximising the sentiments and emotions in the script.

THEATRE GENRE● It is a type of music used in artistic

expressions, such as operas, ballet and dance. It is has the same puropose as the cinematographic genre.

PUBLICITY GENRE ● It is a type of music that is used in the radio

and in the TV, that tries to catch the attention of potential buyers.
