RULE 1 - PREPARE
Always Prepare in advance
Do vocabulary search
Make a list of Nouns, Verbs & Adjectives and practise their pronunciation
RULE 2 - LISTEN Listening is very important discussion
skill. An effective discussion is one in which people listen to each other.
Make sure you listen and respond to what other people have to say.
Cont.
Group discussion is one in which people share and talk about different opinions & view points.
RULE 3 – DON’T DOMINATE
In Group Discussion, Quality is more important than Quantity.
What you say is important but how you say is much more important.
RULE4 – BACK UP YOUR POINTS
By quoting expert opinion
By referring to your own experience
Cont.Your views without support of facts
have no weightage.
Try to avoid making empty points.
RULE5 – LEARN SOME USEFUL PHRASES
Agree: You are absolutely right about that
Disagree: I don’t see that way too
Dealing with interruptions: Can I finish what I am saying
Adding point: I would like to add on or emphasis on
RULE6 – BE POLITE
Stay calm and be polite
Use of words like, “ Please, Thank you, Could you, May you....” sound polite and respectful
RULE7 - TAKE/MAKE NOTES
What you can write you can easily use to share your views.
It helps you to add more clarity on the view point of others also.
It also helps you in giving new interpretations.

RULE8 – SPEAK CLEARLY
Speak softly and clearly
Avoid using slangs, Your pronunciation should be clear
cont.Speak at a moderate speed. Neither

Use Compact Disc on pronunciation for improvement
Daily watch English news channel.
RULE9 - RELAX
The best way to make sure that you are relaxed in a discussion is to prepare for it.
GENERAL TIPS Don’t keep your fist tight
Avoid holding chairs, arms tightly
Take 3-4 deep breath before start of GD, if possible consume a glass of water slowly at least 5-10 minutes before GD. It reduces stress.
