SINGAPORE, Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- DocDoc Pte. Ltd.(http://docdoc.com), the fastest and most convenient way for patients to find theright doctor and book an appointment online, has announced new researchfindings culled from its platform, the largest collection of medical specialists in theAsia-Pacific region. The data shows that 49.9% of Singaporeans are searchingfor Dentists, the most sought after category of medical specialist. 18 percent ofDocDoc users are seeking Obstetricians & Gynecologists (OB/GYNs), thesecond most sought after type of medical specialist. General Practitioners are inthird with 6.5% of all search requests.
The 10 most sought after medical specialists in Singapore:

When it comes to medical procedures, patients in Singapore are actively seeking medical assistance in the areas ofdental, gynae, dermatology, pregnancy, braces, eye and pediatrics.
Plastic Surgery and non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedures such as Botox and hair removal are treatments thatare rising in popularity across Singapore, according to DocDoc.
"This data highlights the huge demand for dental specialist care in Singapore," said John Sharp, President andCTO of DocDoc. "The findings indicate either an undersupply of dentists or an uptick in popularity for cosmeticdentistry, or a combination of both."

In Singapore,the ratio is about one in 3,400.
In the same article, Singapore Health Minister Gan Kim Yong, is quoted as saying that the number of dentists inSingapore must rise in order to meet the needs of an aging population.
