What is Breast CancerBreast cancer is a malignant tumor that starts in the cells of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer cells that can grow into (invade) surrounding tissues or spread (metastasize) to distant areas of the body. The disease occurs almost entirely in women, but men can get it, too.

Signs and Symptoms Most breast lumps aren't cancerous. Yet the most
common sign of breast cancer is a lump A number of conditions other than breast cancer
can cause the breasts to change in size or feel Other possible causes of noncancerous breast
changes include fibrocystic changes, cysts, fibro adenomas, infection or injury.
If the change hasn't gone away after a month, have it evaluated promptly.
