INTRODUCTION

• Telomeres are small DNA sequences that shorten with each replication.

• The via of P53 can be used to intervene in the G1

checkpoint and also repair damage in the replication

of genetic material, preventing metastasis.

• Dynein protein has a great function is repaired the

asymmetry between cell division during mitosis.

Critical Pathway In Cell Cycle May Lead To Cancer Development

Red OrbitJuly 11, 2013

Scientist findings on chromosome shortening suggest a potential target to arrest cancer cell growth.

The things findings about telomeres, the stretches of DNA at the ends of chromosomes that protect our genetic code and make it possible for cells to divide, suggest a potential target for preventive measures against cancer, aging and other diseases.

Page 6: Biologia molecular

Telomeres have been compared to the plastic tips at the end of shoelaces because they prevent the ends of chromosomes from fraying and sticking to each other, which scrambles the genetic information and may promote cancer.

Cells can escape this fate by activating an enzyme called Telomerase, which prevents telomeres from getting shorter and the cells can continue growing and dividing.

Critical Pathway In Cell Cycle May Lead To Cancer Development

Each time a human cell divides, its telomeres become shorter. When they become too short, the cell can no longer divide.

Page 8: Biologia molecular

Scientists identified the p53 pathway, a molecular mechanism that normally protects a cell’s genetic material. It has a great role in the response to telomere desprotection.

If cells lose the function of p53, it can´t longer arrest cells in the G1 phase, an important point in the cell cycle for repairing DNA damage or, if the damage cannot be repaired, targeting the cell for programmed death.

OBSERVATION

I think that is very important look more about telomeres and how they behave within the cell cycle, each day we will be closer to finding a possible cure for cancer. Thanks to this study people can learn more about different process to understand the exact way that alters the cycle of reproduction of cells for locked with certainty the step that fails in cycle checkpoints.

Bearing Witness to the Phenomenon of Symmetric Cell Division

Dynein protein can be

correcting mistakes of symmetry in

the process of mitosis.

Page 11: Biologia molecular

An asymmetric cell division in not stem cells can give a result of two daughter cells with different fates, like one large cell that begin cell division early and other smaller than first cell and maybe can grows very slowly or dies.

Page 12: Biologia molecular

In this fluorescent image the cells correct the symmetry problem adjusting its cell membranes relative to the spindle instead of shifting their spindles within the cell.

Cells with proper spindle alignment in early anaphase don´t this correction.

Dynein has an ability to drive movements for a new plasma membrane targeting mechanism in addition to the ones previously looked during metaphase.

OBSERVATION

In my opinion if be an asymmetric reproduction in the cells of the body can be altered many body functions that you do normal. For example, can reducing the number of functional cells, so it´s very important understand mechanisms used by the body for correcting the asymmetry at the time of cell division, so is possible intervene to improve them.

MEDICAL UTILITY

Cancer is a disease that today hasn´t

cure, if people study more about telomeres and its role in the cell cycle, medicine could

find a way to fix up the errors that inducing

metastasis in the body.

MEDICAL UTILITY

If the health people look at time the checkpoint that fails in the cancer cells, is possible search treatments for cancer and other diseases that

develop with these problems. Also maybe develop anti-aging treatments, but not from the

aesthetic, instead treatments for that the old people live your last years with a better quality of life

and greater vitality.

MEDICAL UTILITYBearing Witness to the Phenomenon of Symmetric Cell

Division

Mechanism of action of the Dynein protein can use

to create treatments for people who have problems

in your replication of genetic material

symmetrically like children that can´t grow healthy by

this disease.

Page 18: Biologia molecular

If the body doesn´t has proteins like Dynein, it can´t

has a great homeostasis, because if doesn´t has

funtional cells the metabolism activities doesn´t do, and

people have metabolic diseases. For this reason is

very important know about the phenomenon of symmetric cell

division and innovate treatments.
