ANTHROPOMETRY 人体测量学

• The scientific study of the measurements and proportions of the human body

• In aspect : • Height 高度• Weight重量• Length长度• Volume 体积• Surface area 面积

• Composite measurement : • Body Mass Index (BMI)- Quantify the amount of tissue mass 身体质量指数• Lean Body Mass (LBM)- Body weight without body fat. 瘦体质量

Page 4: Anthropometry presentation on height and weight measurement

HEALTH SCREENING- BMI

• BMI : Quantify the amount of tissue mass • Higher the BMI = More fat > Muscle

• Consist of four category : • Underweight - 体重过低• Normal/ Healthy - 体重正常• Overweight- 超重• Obese - 肥胖

身高体重指数 - BMI(BODY MASS INDEX)

• 又称身体质量指数

• 身体质量指数 =

• 体重 - m

• 体重 -kg

体重测量 -WEIGHT MEASUREMENT • Weighting scale condition:

• Electronic or beam balance scale• Place the electronic scale on a flat, level surface.• Place the scale on a hard and firm floor. Avoid carpet. • Check and readjust the weight reading to zero.• Measurement taken to nearest 0.1 kg• No bathroom scales to weigh children (spring scale)

体重测量 -WEIGHT MEASUREMENT

• Subject requirement:• Must be barefoot • With as little clothing as possible- remove jacket. • Standing in the middle of the platform of the scale – on both feet. • Arms hanging by the side, with palms facing the thighs. • Maintain stable position- Should not be moving • Nobody should be holding the subject / subject should not hold anything else

beside him. • Each measurement should be taken twice and the youth should be

repositioned prior to each measurement

身高测量 - HEIGHT MEASUREMENT

• Set the measuring board vertically on a stable level surface.

• Measuring board is perpendicular to the floor, and the floor should be flat and firm.

• The measuring board should be placed against a flat surface such as a wall with no moulding.

• Stadiometer should include a vertical board, metric tape, and horizontal headpiece that slides down to measure height

身高测量 - HEIGHT MEASUREMENT

• Remove the child or teen's shoes, bulky clothing, and hair ornaments, and unbraid hair that interferes with the measurement.

• Have the child or teen stand with feet flat, together, and against the wall. Make sure legs are straight, arms are at sides, and shoulders are level.

• Make sure the child or teen is looking straight ahead and that the line of sight is parallel with the floor.

• Take the measurement while the child or teen stands with head, shoulders, buttocks, and heels touching the flat surface (wall). Depending on the overall body shape of the child or teen, all points may not touch the wall.

• Use a flat headpiece to form a right angle with the wall and lower the headpiece until it firmly touches the crown of the head.

• Make sure the measurer's eyes are at the same level as the headpiece.

• Accurately record the height to the nearest or 0.1 centimetre.

STUDENT PRIVACY

• Maintain student privacy during measurement

• Increase awareness of groups at increased risk of stigmatization (i.e., larger students, shorter boys, and taller girls)

• Provide information about body size acceptance

• Provide information about the dangers of unhealthy weight control practices

• Should be prepared to respond to questions or comments by students.• If a student makes a negative comment about his or her own weight, staff

members need to be able to respond with supportive statements.

CALCULATE BMI

• BMI =

• Height = 1.118 m

• Weight = 30.5 kg

• Thus, BMI = = 24.4

PLOTTING GROWTH CHART

PLOTTING GROWTH CHART

1. Find the age of the children

2. Identify the BMI

3. Plot on the growth chart

4. Read the percentile.(75-80

percentile)

5. Categorize it into different category.
