• Helps you see at night by improving night vision

• Some food and drinks have vitamin A in them.

Minerals

• 2 kinds of minerals: macro minerals and trace minerals.

• The body needs more macro minerals then trace minerals.

Macro• This group is made up of

calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride, and sulfur

Trace• This group is made up of

iron, manganese, copper, iodine, zinc, cobalt, fluoride, and selenium.

• Fat sounds like something you shouldn’t eat but fat is an important part of a healthy diet.

• Three types of fats.

Unsaturated• They are good for heart

health and found in fish and plants food

Saturated• Found in meat and other

animal products.

Trans•These fats are found in butter and raise cholesterol

Carbohydrates

• Carbohydrates give your body fuel for physical activity.

• There are two types of carbohydrates, simple and complex.

Simple• Simple carbohydrates are

found in light snacks, fruits and milk.

Complex• Complex carbohydrates (or

starches) are found in foods such as grains or pastas.

Water

• Water is the most important thing for your body.

• Your body is made up of 55%-70% water. It keeps you hydrated and healthy.

Protein

Builds Muscles• Your body needs protein to

build muscles and maintain them.

Where there found• You can find proteins in

meats, nuts, fish, eggs, and beans.
