REASON 1It can be uncomfortable. You’re used to going out into the world and observing everything around you and now you have to observe everything inside you. It ain’t all rainbows and butterflies if you know what I mean.

REASON 2You value doing over being. This culture values doing over being. Business and money value doing over being. Your mind values doing over being. Why on Earth would you spend precious time to just be? It makes no sense to you.

REASON 3There isn’t always clear feedback. When you eat cake, it tastes great. That’s clear feedback. When you meditate, you’re not sure whether it’s working or even feels good. Your mind wants to measure and analyze, but meditation won’t let you. It puts its index finger to your lips and says “shhhh....just be.”

REASON 4It’s a habit, like any other habit. Most people haven’t thought about how to form and sustain habits in their lives. There is an art. There is a science.

REASON 5It’s so ridiculously easy to sit down with your eyes close and do nothing that it somehow loops back around and becomes really hard. It’s too easy that it’s hard. If that makes any sense.
