Dr. William N. Kelley is a past recipient of the Association of American Medical Colleges’ David E. Rogers Award. He received the award while serving as the first CEO of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. William N. Kelley led the health system with a commitment to providing high-quality care to those who needed the care.
Introduction
The David E. Rogers Award is named after a former president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. David E. Rogers, the late physician, was a key player in the fight against AIDS. He passionately advocated for the rights of patients who were battling the disease, and often served as the conscience of the medical profession. As the first head of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, he developed evaluation systems that enhanced accountability.

In his capacity as head of the foundation, Dr. David E. Rogers also prioritized the needs of underserved populations, including individuals living in poverty and those struggling with mental illness.
