OVERVIEW OF THE TANGERANG CITY

Tangerang City located in the west JABODETABEK Metropolitan;

Tangerang City has an area : 184,24 Km² (including Soekarno Hatta International Airport area : 19,6 Km²);

Tangerang City administratively consists of 13 district with 104 villages;

Tangerang City residents nearly 2 million people with an average growth of 2,77 %/year;

TANGERANG CITY AS A STRATEGIC AREA

Tangerang City has accessibility and connectivity both nationally and internationally with the Soekarna Hatta Airport

Tangerang City connected with import-export port of Tanjung Priok either via expressway or main road

Tangerang City has regional connectivity with Banten Province and Sumatra region on the east by express road and main road

Tangerang City has a system of integrated transport network with the JABODETABEK area

Tangerang City is an area included in the National Activity Centers

The strategic location with high accessibility influence on the intensity of the movement in Tangerang City area, which of the existing data indicate that the use of space traffic almost reached the available road capacity

Traffic flow in the area of tangerang city is dominated by the use of a motorcycle that reaches over 2 million trips every day.

IMPLEMENTATION PROGRESS

1 Network development of the Commuter Public Transport based on the road – called TransJABODETABEK

- Tangerang – Jakarta Corridor through Daan Mogot street has been operating

- Tangerang – Jakarta Corridor through Karawaci (via Jakarta –Merak expressway) planned to operate in 2015;

- Tangerang – Jakarta Corridor through Thamrin street (via Jakarta – Merak expressway)planned for shelters construction and other supporting facilities in 2015

- Ciledug (Tangerang) – Blok M (Blok M) will be in the form of elevated busway which will be implemented planning in 2015

2 Network development of the Local Public Transport based on the road – called Tangerang BRT

Tangerang BRT is a feeder of Transjabodetabek and commuter trains consisting of six corridors were planned later in the early stages will be developed one corridor in 2015

3 Network development of the Tangerang – Jakarta and Airport Commuter Train

- Double track railway network Tangerang – Duri (Jakarta) has been operating

- Development of the airport rail network throgh tangerang currnetly in the process of land acquisition

- Development of the railway network Cikarang – Balaraja throug Tangerang has been listed in the spatial plan regulation

4 The development of an integrated public transport node

Integration between Poris Plawad terminal to batuceper train station will do pre-design study in 2015

5 Development of the border terminal

Development of the border terminal in the planning process (Ciledug terminal and imam bonol terminal in south tangerang, Cadas terminal and jatiuwung terminal in west tangerang)

ITS DEVELOPMENT

This time has developed ATCS which controls 33 intersection and the next is planned from ATCS will be upgraded to the ITS with the addition of features such as public transport management system that support public transport services and traffic control system is a feature of traffic information such as traffic density and traffic speed
