WHO WE ARE:BackgroundSt. Vincent De Paul Community Development Organization (SAVIDIDO) was humbly founded in 2014 after amalgamating 25 Self Help Groups spread across the three districts of Luweero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola.Recently (2015), St. Vincent De Paul Community Development Organization (SAVIDIDO) got incorporated as a non-profiting making organization set to continue with its operations in 50 Self Help Groups in the six Districts of Luweero ,(Butuntumula,Bamunanika and Luweero sub-counties),Nakasongola(Nabiswera,Kalungi,Wabinyonyi and Kakooge sub-counties) Nakaseke(Kiwoko,Kasangombe and Kinoni sub-counties), Kiryandongo, Nwoya and Kole. The organization also reached 370 households and 1850 direct and indirect beneficiaries in 2014 of which 1000 were female and 850 male. Today, SAVIDIDO boasts of 450 households and 2,250 reached, of which 1200 are female and 1050 male. It is still a new but viable and growing organization

SAVIDIDO was formulated on the basis of rendering a helping hand to the marginalized and poor rural households of Luweero, Nakasongola and Nakaseke Districts. It currently implements its interventions through five thematic/strategic areas(Mandate) as responses to the victims of the problem herein hinted on and these are; rural house livelihoods, preventive health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene(WASH), Good Governance, Gender and Equal Opportunities, educational support and organization capacity development and sustainability

OUR SERVICES/INTERVENTIONS:Components of each thematic area(a)Rural household live hoods Food security and Nutrition Savings and credits(VSLA Methodology) Environmental conservation(Tree planting campaigns, renewal energies, fuel

saving stoves and appropriate technologies in general) Promotion of value addition Marketing of farmers ‘produce Animal husbandry(Pastoralim,Pigerry and Poultry farming) Micro-enterprise development and promotion.e.g Candle making, briquettes

making, school chalk, liquid soap making as well as Bread baking especially among the women and youths

Promotion of Vocational Skills/Skilling Uganda through supporting and placing students/Pupils in the making to various Vocational Institutes.

 (b)Preventive Health

Heath education on the six killer diseases HIV and AIDS prevention,treatment,care and support Championing Sexual Reproductive Health(SRH) activities and services especially

among the Youth

©Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Promotion of good sanitary and hygiene practices among Water User

Committees(WUCs) and Village Health Teams Construction of water sources/points Training, Promoting and sensitizing communities and households on good

sanitation practices. Organizing household competitions on health as part of enhancing WASH

at Community and household levels respectively Integrating VSLA Methodology into WASH Safe water chain promotion training and retraining members of Water

(f) Educational support Promotion of child’s rights to education, health and protection.

Social-Economic support to 300 Orphans and Vulnerable Children(OVC) Psycho-socio support to at least 300 OVC Provision of scholastic materials to 300 Orphans and Vulnerable

Children(OVC) Strengthening Teachers and Parents Associations (PTAs) and Schools

Management Committees (SMCs) through trainings and workshops. Contributing towards quality education through organizing periodical

trainings and workshops for teachers.

(g) Organizational Capacity Development and sustainability Development and operationalization of the Institutional frame work and policy documents. For example, three

years strategic plan, human resource manual, financial manual, Articles and Memorandum of Association,

Certificate of incorporation, annual budgets and work plans among others.

Establishing a robust Monitoring and evaluation system and structure.

Creating and managing local and sustainable projects for the organization.

Infrastructural development of the organisation.i.e Office Administration and any other logistics like transport,

communication and stationary.

Documentary and publications

Data base and website development and management

Building and extension of networks and coalitions with different CSOs including local governments

OUR PROGRAM GOAL: SAVIDIDO is working in partnership with rural, marginalized, poor communities and other stakeholders that are empowered and able to demand for improved service delivery

  ORGANIZATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

 In furtherance of the above mentioned vision and mission, the objectives for which the organization is established are:(1)To promote basic and sexual reproductive rights for young people and their communities- SAVIDIDO is committed to making sure that young people are informed and trained to make responsible decisions regarding Sexual Reproductive Health(SRH) and are supported by their environments.(2)To promote the Spirit of co-operation and solidarity among the rural people for their socio-economic development.(3)To cultivate and inculcate entrepreneurship and management skills among the rural poor especially the most vulnerable groups such as the Children, youths, women and the disabled persons for their self-reliance.(4)To promote and encourage literacy campaign as a tool for development and to facilitate rural communities to adopt nutrition, health and sanitary surroundings in their homes and to advance programs geared at ensuring food security.

(1)To promote environmental conservation with particular emphasis to maintaining and increasing the agro-forestry cover, sustainable agriculture and organic farming techniques.

(2)To participate, support and implement activities related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) at District, Community and Household levels.

(7)To build, construct, maintain, support, manage and run vocational training/or capacity building centers and schools; and workshops for promoting skills for purposes of job creation and self-reliance among the youth.

(8)To respond to the challenges of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) in relation to their education, health care and support in partnership with other agencies, bodies and individuals of good will.

(9)To organize the members and the community into viable socio-economic groups for purposes of improving their bargaining powers and fair markets for their produce.

(10)To enter into partnerships with local, national and international institutions for purposes of becoming an executing agent for projects initiated in Uganda by such institutions.

(11)To have and cause the ORGANIZATION to be registered as a Non Profit making Organization (Company Limited by Guarantee) in accordance with Company Act( CAP 110) (12)To build both individual and community capacity to promote peace and justice, good governance and democracy; and human rights and as a means to their socio-economic development. (13)To strengthen the capacity of SAVIDIDO as an Institution through resource mobilization. (14)To promote justice, human rights observance and rehabilitation of victims. (15)To engage in conflict resolution and peace building in Uganda.
