Oxfordshire Context • Population grown over 10% in past 10 years to 672,500• Oxfordshire is growing - 106,000 new homes by 2031• Creation of 85,000 new jobs by 2031• Only 0.4% of working age population are on Job

Seekers Allowance (JSA)• Circa 30,000 VAT registered businesses• Two world class universities and two high performing FE

College groups• 49% of workforce are educated to graduate level and

only 5% have no qualifications (lowest rate in UK).

Through the City Deal, Oxfordshire committed to an additional 525 apprenticeship starts from 2014-2017.Over the 3 years from 2014/15, the skills element of the Oxford and Oxfordshire City Deal will deliver:• An additional 175 apprenticeships each year until 2017• 300 more employers offering accredited work experience opportunities• 250 more employers engaging with schools and colleges• 1850 more employers with raised awareness of apprenticeships

• O2i, Opportunities to Inspire, links business and education across Oxfordshire.

• O2i Advisers are a nationwide network of high calibre volunteers with experience of employment or self-employment.

• Working with the O2i Enterprise Coordinator, they will support schools and college to navigate the range of possible employer interactions and to help them create a whole school strategy for careers, enterprise and employer engagement.
