Project Summary (Cont.)

PROBLEM STATEMENT• Vietnam’s economic growth has interacted with existing patterns of inequity, social

exclusion and geographic disparities and has widened the gap between those who can and cannot obtain quality education, a stable income and access to quality basic services.

• Meanwhile, businesses, academia, government, non-profit organizations tend to operate in silos, leading to support programs that are poorly coordinated, under-resourced, and lack innovation, all of which limits success and effectiveness.

APPROACH• An enabling environment for cross sector collaboration is needed to support

innovation and investment in initiatives that can solve complex problems. • Community philanthropy can play an essential role in building trust and

demonstrating transparency and good governance in local efforts to address community needs and priorities (GFCF, 2013).

• In this context, since introduced in 2009, LIN’s Narrow the Gap Community Fund has been becoming essential means to gather contribution from cross sectors to address local social issues.
