Yours In Rotary
Rtn. Kedar PonkshePresident 2015-16
My Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I am humbled by the responsibility you have entrusted in me, responsibility to lead some of the best Rotarian of Rotary world in our part of District.
At this moment I recall my early days in our club back in 2004. It was Rotary's centennial year. I was amongst the youngest members of the club. The personal warmth of Centennial Past president Late Sandip Patel encouraged me to participate in rotary activities in my own little way. I discovered how wonderful it is to work on service projects involving needy school children, help somebody get his cataract operation done, ensure water availability to the water starved villages and so on. I also realised it was the friendship and sense of camaraderie that make all these projects possible.
Working with all the presidents during these years in various capacities was an enriching experience.
This is the last year of existence of our district 3140, our beloved identity for so many years. Our district governor Rtn Subhash Kulkarni wants us all to excel in all spheres of activities, to reach newer heights never reached before in this final year of district 3140. The district theme PEAK-15 coined after the legendary mountain Mount Everest the highest in the world. Dist Governor wants us all to conquer this kind of heights in what ever we do this year. I take this opportunity to thank D.G Rtn Subhash for the excellent training, encouragement in last several months.
Friends this year we will be turning into a sixty year old club. Sixty years is not a small period in the life of an organisation. That our club not only survived but also grown through these years is testimony to the very fact that we have been doing something just right. I think it is time to look within to appreciate what right we have done in these years. It is time to feel proud of our achievements. It is time to remember and thank all our past Rotarian and presidents whose efforts have taken us so far. Therefore it is time to celebrate this journey, for it will re-energize us and fill our minds with enthusiasm on our journey ahead.
While it is time to celebrate it is also time to commit ourselves and resolve to work even harder. We have responsibility to shoulder, to ensure that our club reaches new heights in time to come. Times are changing very fast, expectations and needs of community are changing with it. Years ahead will throw new challenges and opportunities to serve. Our success will depend on how we respond to these changes. There are many more milestones not touched by our club and I know all of us are aware what are those. We have a rich pool of experienced, past presidents and Rotarian, and promising lot of young and energetic Rotarian too. I think this rare mix is just the right fuel to propel our growth to newer heights.
So friends let us ….
