What we do…

The Recreation Department offers Franklin and Medway residents a variety of programs and events for youths and adults as well as coordination of youth sports organizations field use and field maintenance. Our department continues to grow each year. In 2013, we had over 4500 kids enrolled in activities and brought in close to $500,000. in revenue.

How we do it…..Staffing

The Recreation Department has 1 full time director, 1 full time program coordinator, and 1 part time administrative assistant.

45% of our salaries budget is made up of season payroll. (23 camp counselors, 10 lifeguards, 3 gate guards, 4 certified pre school teachers, 2 art instructors, 50+basketball referees and more)

Fields & Playgrounds

The Recreation Department is in charge of permitting all fields and playgrounds in town. We work closely with the DPW to ensure proper maintenance of all playgrounds is kept up to ASTM and CPSC standards.

Community Service & Eagle Scouts

We provided over 1000 hours of community service in 2013. And over 700 hours of eagle scout badges in 2013. Disc golf course, playground kiosks, park benches, signage, etc.

FHS and Tri County students come to our department to fulfill their required hours of community service.
