Without internal culture change – digital transformation efforts will not be successful.

Having a separate digital strategy from the core organisational strategy is no longer desirable. It reinforces a perception that digital is just another department with its own agenda. Instead digital technology must be woven through all activities and departments.

In order for this change process to be effective, HR teams must be more involved in conversations about digital transformation. HR directors will have a lot of responsibility for making the necessary culture change happen.

A digital skills bottleneck is happening in many organisations. Digital teams must shift to a culture that facilitates other departments to grow digital skills – rather than doing things on their behalf.
