The proposed tax on the citizens of Kirkland is unnecessary when the YMCA will provide a world class facility at no burden to the tax payer.
The YMCA is the premier developer of community recreation facilities in the United States, with a 130 year track record of success of unequaled contribution to the communities they serve.

The closing of a local high school pool has inspired interest in researching not only the high school pool replacement, but also, enhancing the fitness and wellness opportunities in Kirkland.
The Stanwood/Camano YMCA, now under construction, was also inspired by the closing of their pool. Their facility, their process and their project, is included in these project examples.
Kirkland isn’t the only City that has lost their HS Swim Pool

Four recent, relevant development examples were chosen, three from YMCA/Pierce/Kitsap Association, and one, Stanwood/Camano, now under construction, from YMCA Snohomish County Association. All of these examples were developed, owned and operated by the YMCA.
YMCA Branches are organized into associations by county. Kirkland would be within Greater Seattle YMCA Assoc.
covering King County. Greater Seattle Association YMCA Branches include the
majority of classes and programs without class fees. Swimming lessons are the exception at low fees from $48 to $78 for 8 lessons. Other pool use and programs are ‘no charge’.
