Act 8/2005 of 8th of June for protection, management and planning of thelandscapeinCatalonia:“Documents of a descriptive and prospective nature which define the varioustypes of landscapes inCatalonia, identify their values and state of preservationandproposethelandscapequalityobjectiveswhichneedtobemet.”

Article3.83.Urbandevelopmentinsettlementswithtree-linedenclosureswillreceivespecialtreatmentduetotheirlandscapevalue.ThesearelocatedinFigueres,Vilabertran,(…)Inthesecases,possiblenewexpansionwillbeintegratedharmoniouslyIntopre-existingstructures,whilealsorespectingtheiruniqueness.Therefore,municipalurbanplanningschemesintheaforementionedsettlementswillhavetoprotectandplantheheritageofcypresstreewindbreaksandtree-linedenclosuresofgreaterlandscapeinterest,inadditiontoplanning,managingandrecoveringtherestofthem.

LandscapeDirective

Everysinglelandscapeisdifferentfromtherest(notbetterorworsethantherest).Eacharea,eachlandscapessharesthesamelandscapecharacter,andtheyareareflectionofthegreatnatural,cultural,historicandsymbolicdiversitytobefoundinCatalonia.

Thedefinitionofthe135landscapesintegratestherelationshipdevelopedbetweenthepopulationanditslandscape(suchasthefeelingofcloseness,emotionallinks,thefeelingofbelonging,etc.)Peoplefeelclosertothelandscapes

Cataloniaisundergoingverydeepchanges(economiccrisis,socialuncertainty,transitiontowardsanewsystemofvalues...).

NowthatthemainlinesoftheLandscapeLawareconsolidated,weareembarkingonanewapproach,forwhichithasdesignedaroadmapcalledCATPAISATGE2020.

NineyearsaftertheLandscapeLawwaspassed...

FocusedonthecharacterizationofthelandscapesofCatalonia,settinguptheinstrumentsenvisagedintheLandscapeLaw,andhelpingtointegratinglandscapeinspatialplanning,amongotherinitiatives.
