Scarborough Subway Background• City Council confirmed support for extension of the
Bloor-Danforth subway line in October, 2013– Route and station locations are subject to an
Environmental Assessment (EA)
• The proposed extension is required soon to replace the aging Scarborough RT
• The Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments have each contributed funding to make the extension a reality

Study ProcessStudy Process•Planning and preliminary engineering work will examine options and recommend an alignment for the subway•A formal Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) will then satisfy the Environmental Assessment Act
Work will advance in four phases

• Phase 1 – Setting the Stage
• Phase 2 – Choosing the Corridor
• Phase 3 – Recommending the Alignment
• Phase 4 – Final Review (TPAP)
Objectives• Support the city-building principles outlined in the
city’s Official Plan and Provincial Policy Statement
• Make transit as attractive a travel option as practically possible in this area of Scarborough
• Minimize adverse environmental impacts
• Achieve cost-effectiveness

Communications & OutreachThe City and TTC are committed to engaging the public in a way that’s transparent, collaborative, inclusive and authentic. The City Planning Division will lead consultations.•Communications activities:
– A dedicated website– Social media campaign– Outreach in public spaces
•Consultation and feedback:– Stakeholder Advisory Group of community leaders– Online consultation– Traditional public meetings in the study area– Interactive workshops
