• Network with your team to see who you can bring on early as a supporter and advocate• Local Businesses who have great brand recognition• People who are known to be both innovative and successful• City Officials or Official City Supporters
• Gives these adopters resources to share your message• Utilize them to create a wider audience base for your message

Have a Backup Plan

For whatever you plan, be ready for it to not go according to plan!
• If you are having a Giving Fair, do you have a back-up location• If you are planning a text to give campaign, do you have a back up in case that
doesn’t work out• If you website crashes, do you have another way to get information out• How do you get in contact with the charities in your city? What if that list isn’t
available?
Make sure you are asking your team the right questions to ensure that you always have a fall-back!

Spread the Word

• Get in front of as many audiences as you can• Rotary Clubs and Service Organizations• City Council Public Meetings• Organizations AGM’s (if they have guest speakers)• Local networking group
• Take a multi-channeled approach—Social Media, Website, Paper Communications, Posters, Flyers etc.
• Make it easy for people to help you spread the message: Tweet sheets, elevator speeches, communication pieces, sponsorship packages etc.

• Have a benchmark of what you want the day to look like• “What would a successful campaign look like?”
• Dollars Raised?• Donors participating?• Good collected?• Retweets and Site Visits?• Charity Participation?
• Make sure these goals are clear and are communicated! (Can be a combination of tangible and intangible items)

your committee? Charity partners? The public?• Evaluation is key to kicking off your next year
campaign!
