Top British Food, What to try In London If you’re an immigrant or a tourist craving a taste from back home, London is sure to have something for you. There’s everything from American Hamburgers to Japanese Sushi here in the English capital but what about the British food? It has a bad reputation in some parts of the world, mainly the USA, where they think of British cuisine as being excessively boiled and bland. However, it’s not as bad as you might think and it may even turn out to be one of the best in the world, but what should you try? Full English Breakfast A not so healthy way to start the day but in London, you might just need this breakfast to set you up for the day. You don’t even have to eat it at breakfast time as most of the cafés in London serve it all day. The traditional ingredients are Bacon, Pork Sausages, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, Fried Bread and a Fried Egg. And as if that wasn’t enough, you have a few slices of toast and a cup of strong tea with milk in to wash it all down. Fish and Chips This dish is synonymous with Britain and there are plenty of wonderful Fish and Chip shops or “Chippys” as they are locally known, in London. The Fish is usually a piece of Cod or Haddock battered and deep fried and the chips are thick cut and cooked in the same way. The proper way to eat them is with plenty of salt and vinegar and you can even enjoy mushy peas, which is peas mashed and sometimes flavoured with mint. Sound weird?
