What is a Crab?•Crabs are animals that live mainly in the sea.
•They belong to the phylum Arthropoda, class Crustracea.
•The crabs are found in every world ocean, in fresh water,
and on land, they are generally covered with a thick
exoskeleton and have a single pair of claws.
•The crab has one set of claws and four other pairs of legs.
•The claws are known as chelapeds
•The crabs are served as a seafood in seafood restaurants
or eatery house.
What they eat?• Crabs generally eat small sea animals, some bacteria ,
algae, etc.
• Algae is the primary food that they generally feed.
• They eat planktons, shells, shrimps, lobsters, small
fishes, including molluscs, worms, other crustaceans,
fungi, bacteria and detritus.
Habitat of Crabs
• Most of the Crabs lives under water, but some are also found on land.
• The huge crab that live beneath water is known as The Japanese Spider Crab.
• The biggest crab that live on land is known as The Coconut Crab. It is generally found on the beaches of Pacific ocean.
Types of Crabs• There are many types of crabs found around us.
• They include are lined shore crabs, spider crabs, kelp crabs, lumpy crabs, pea crabs, fiddler crabs.
