DINNER'S READY!My mother is the one who makes the home cooked meals for me and my family. We hardly go out to eat, so we eat home cooked meals. The kitchen is probably one of the most used areas in the house. On special occasions, we eat at the dinner table and the whole kitchen is filled with family and friends serving themselves food. Most of the time, however, my mother serves everyone. Food is not the only thing that's kept in the kictchen.

MEDICINE CABINET

Next to the stove is the medicine cabinet. Usually the condiments are kept on top, and the medicines at the bottom. The ones at the top are garlic salt, chile, pepper and sugar. The ones at the bottom are mostly allergie and pain relievers.

FRIDGE

Papers have been filling the fridge almost every day. Achievement awards, test scores, magnets, family pictures, birthday cards, letters, memos, you name it. Some papers are as old as ten years, but we don't bother to take them off because I feel it has sentimental value.

STACKED DISHESHere we keep our clean dishes. My family has a habit of not using new dishes. When new dishes are bought, it's kept all the way at the top shelf. New dishes are used on special occasions and when there are guests coming over. The ones on the bottom and the middle are used for meals, or used for cutting up vegetables, fruit, potatoes, or chicken.

"WON'T STOP TILL WE SURRENDER"

Quotes make a plain room look more welcoming, in my opinion. My sister's room has many quotes and books in every corner. Most of the books read by her and me, she keeps them in her shelf. Some books are also recipe books that we use in the kitchen when we want to make something new.

DESSERTS!

Baked goods always taste better when their homemade. Most of the time, me and my sisters bake cupcakes in the oven. But the family dessert is jericalla, which is a dessert from my parent's native country, Mexico. It is similar to creme brulee.

KITCHEN UTENSILS

Here we have our kitchen utensils. Spatlas, mixers, and knives. Above the drawer is a wooden shelf you open, and it is used to cut food. Though me and my family rarely use it.

MACHACA

Machaca is dry meat or pork that's a popular cuisine in Mexico. It's one of my favorite foods, and my mom makes it with onion and tomato to give it more flavor. It's rare to find machaca here in the U.S. It is usually sold in Mexico, and it is not very common in the United States.

WARM MEALS

The microwave is essential for every family home. This is probably the most used appliance in the whole house. Food always get cold fast, and the microwave gets it warm no faster than ten seconds. Without it, we would not be able to enjoy our home cooked meals.
