Wider Community Involvement“Mountmellick Environmental Group (MEG) present certificates to
winners of anti-litter project” Over 100 people attended the presentation of certificates to winners of
a poster competition to raise awareness of a new anti litter project which is being run throughout Mountmellick by MountmellickEnvironment Group(MEG). As part of the project, local schools were invited to take part in the competition to raise awareness on the need for action. There was a tremendous response and three local schools, St Pauls NS, St Joseph’s Girls NS and MountmellickCommunity School, took part.
MEG, originally set up in 2001, by members of residents associations in Mountmellick to highlight the need for good environmental living. The present focus of the group is taking up the challenge of becoming a more sustainable town and within this addressing the litter problem.
