9 Reasons to RespectForests
By Derrick Alger
No. 1
They Help ModerateEarth's Temperature
CO2 is quickly heating up our
planet. One of the ways nature
combats that is through
photosynthesis. Forests are a
mass army of CO2 combatants.
No. 2
We Need Oxygen
Forests produce massive amounts of
O2. The more deforestation occurs,
the less oxygen humans have to
breathe.
No. 3
Plants ProduceMedicine
Lots of medicine comes from the
nature in forests, including some
naturally occurring antimicrobials.
No. 4
Air Purification
Forests absorb harmful chemicals
including CO2 and others.
No. 5
We Need Soil to Stayin Place
Forests keep large amounts of soil
from shifting. This prevents natural
disasters like landslides.
No. 6
They are Home toAnimals
Most of the earths biodiversity
resides in forests. Trees hold
countless numbers of species.
No. 7
They Are Home toPeople
Many indigenous people still reside
under the cover of forests, and use
them for food, shelter, and water
supplies.
No. 8
They Give us Water
Forests naturally put their excess
water into the ground which refills
our groundwater supply.
No. 9
Trees Supply us withResources
Trees give us paper, timber, honey
and many other resources that
humans take for granted.
