Chop Sticks

In Asia, they use chop sticks like we use silverware . Chopsticks are two sticks, usually wood, and are used to pick up food.

Southwestern Asian Foods

Southwestern Asia , India and Burma , consists mostly of curry, rice, and beans.

Northeastern Asian Foods

Northeastern Asia , China , Japan , and Korea , focus on cooking food in oils and sauces. Korea is known for grilling and sautéing , while China and Japan focus on freshness.

Southeastern Asian Food

Vietnam and Cambodia are examples of Southeastern Asian countries. People in the Southeast like to cook their food lightly. They like citrus sauces and mild spices like basil and cilantro.

Sushi

Sushi means vinegared rice. Sushi is mistakenly disliked because it is thought that all sushi contains raw fish. Most sushi has cooked or smoked meats. It can also contain just vegetables or just rice.

Rice

Rice is the most common food throughout Asia. Rice can be used as a side dish and as part of a main dish. Rice is used in the majority of Asian dishes.

Tea

Tea originated in China. Tea is the dominant drink throughout Asia. Green tea is the most popular. There is also black tea, white tea, oolong, lei cha, cha yen, and ginseng.

Asian Desserts

Asian desserts are very different from American desserts. This dessert is called chendlon. Chendlon is popular in Japan. Chendlon consists of rice noodles cooked in coconut milk.
