At Ultrasonix, we’re always

interested in how doctors use

ultrasound. As of today, 140

US and Canadian anesthesia

and pain management

specialists gave us their

feedback in a ongoing, informal

survey on their use of

ultrasound for nerve blocks and

vascular access procedures.

The majority of respondents indicated that they do use ultrasound to

guide procedures, though these results may be skewed by self-selection.

The results show

those who have

ultrasound systems

perform more nerve

block vascular

access procedures

than those without.

68% of doctors with ultrasound

procedures

47% of doctors with ultrasound

The most common

challenges the

surveyed doctors had

with their current

system were poor

image quality and not

having enough of them

to meet demand.

All survey respondents

who are not yet using

ultrasound have

considered using it for

nerve block and

vascular access

guidance.

The main barrier to

the doctors using

ultrasound for nerve

block and vascular

access procedures

is lack of training or

experience with

ultrasound.
