1. The Beatles aka (The White Album) by rock band The Beatles (1968) their 9thstudio albumAlbum Background:This album is a double album, the band only one. This album was written and recorded during a period of turmoil for the group, after visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and having a particularlyproductive songwriting session in early 1968.Ringo Starr left the band for a period during this albums recording which leftPaul McCartney to play drum on two of the tracksMany of the tracks were done solo which basically left every member to showtheir own talentsThe album reached #1c on the charts upon its release which just speaks to howbig the Beatles were even with their issues. Its also listed at #10 on RollingStones "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list.During this albums production the band held their first and only 24-hourrecording/producing session near the end of the creation of The Beatles, whichoccurred during the final mixing and sequencing for the album. The session wasattended by Lennon, McCartney, and producer George Martin.Eric Clapton played lead guitar on Harrisons "While My Guitar Gently Weeps.Although "Hey Jude" was not intended to be included on any LP release, it wasrecorded during the White Album sessions and was issued as a single nearly threemonths before the release of The BeatlesTrack by Track Review:1.Back in the U.S.S.R. (Paul song) - This song has a very raw feel mixedwith a good pop punk rock feel.. Like the songs fast pace, great piano, vocals..Very catchy.. I can hear a Beach Boys inspiration.. The shredding guitar solo inthe middle is amazing2.Dear Prudence (John Song) Like Lennons vocals, the opening is so catchy[with the soft guitar beat] kind of depressing sounding song the slow and fastdrum beat mix adds a nice touch.. Very calm sounding, love the backing vocalsand good guitar work.. Like how this song comes together (from just john to all)3.Glass Onion (John song) Like the reflecting lyrics (I told you aboutStrawberry fields, Lady Madonna reference, Fool on the hill).. Like the clubjamming drum beat.. Like the slow progression of how the song ends4.Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Love that opening piano chord.. very catchy drew meinto the song, very catchy track overall, the meaning is actually confusing..(About being happy about marriage).. Like all the various background sounds, makes the song unique5.Wild Honey Pie This song is very strange, especially with the opening..aliens? Lol very unique though6.The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill This song features Yoko Ono, whosurprisingly cant sing Like the country element to this song, still sounds verycurrent, like the group vocals effect with the instrumentals as well Johnsvocals are great. Awesome meaning, extremely catchy.. . Like the whistlingending.. very raw sounding song7.While My Guitar Gently Weeps (George Song) Features Eric Clapton on leadguitar, which is amazing, very depressing sounding song lyrically and musicallybut such a classic song like the double vocal work?Quote from George about inspiration/meaning : I wrote "While My Guitar GentlyWeeps" at my mothers house in Warrington. I was thinking about the Chinese IChing, the Book of Changes... The Eastern concept is that whatever happens isall meant to be, and that theres no such thing as coincidence - every littleitem thats going down has a purpose. "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" was asimple study based on that theory8.Happiness Is a Warm Gun (John Lennon/Paul McCartney song) Like the slowsong that turn into a faster almost hip hop feel, good lyrics.. Amazing guitarsolo. The meaning could be about wanting drugs? Like how the song breaks in agroup sound, good backing vocals.. Very peaceful song9.Martha My Dear Like this songs cheery feel, great piano work, goodvocals.. like the trombone and instruments, like the clapping backgroundnoises.. great pop song..10. Im So Tired My favorite song of this album, ( I wish it was longer)..love the mello feel that turns into a jam session with Paul rough vocals on the 2. chorus.. (And great vocal buildup Youd say Im putting you onBut its no joke, its doing me harmYou know I cant sleep, I cant stop my brainYou know its three weeks, Im going insaneYou know Id give you everything Ive gotfor a little peace of mindId give you everything Ive got for a little peace of mindId give you everything Ive got for a little peace of mind).. Pauls vocalmade this song sound angry, or filled with a lot of raw emotion.. Is this songabout their 24-7 production schedule for this album? Or A Lennon-McCartney feud?11. Blackbird Like the acoustic folk sound to this song, very calming, vocals are awesome, very catchy. Meaning: McCartney was inspired to write itwhile in Scotland as a reaction to racial tensions escalating in the UnitedStates in the spring of 1968.12. Piggies (Harrison) very biazarre song at least lyrically, who writesabout pigs.. I like the musical beat, very british sounding (Baroque-styleharpsichord and string quartet) .. Like the unique background vocals. Meaning:13. Rocky Raccoon (McCartney) The song was primarily written by PaulMcCartney, who was inspired while playing acoustic guitar with John Lennon andDonovan in India Like the acoustic feel, love the country feel. The vocals areawesome, I love the tone of McCartneys voice like the harmonica, and the rawfeeling of Paul vocals during the chorus. Meaning:14. Dont Pass Me By (Ringo Starr) Ringos first solo composition Like thissong because Ringo does the vocals; although they are kind of monotone they areinteresting and drew me into the song. Like the country feel15. Why Dont We Do It In the Road? (McCartney) Such a good song, one of myfavorite. Very folk rock sounding, (Very Kenny Wayne Sheppard) sounding.. likethe piano musically.. love Pauls rough vocals and his vocal range.. Meaning:McCartney wrote the song after seeing two monkeys copulating in the street whileon retreat in Rishikesh, India, with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He marveled inthe simplicity of this natural scenario when compared to the emotional turmoilof human relationships.16. I Will (McCartney) This is the only song that I really dont like, itstoo sappy and about committing to a lover. The background instrumental work ispretty good though17. Julia (Lennon) This song is an interesting one, lyrically its verysimple but is meant to pat tribute to Johns mom, Julia Lennon (1914-1958) whowas knocked down and killed by a car driven by a drunk off-duty police officerwhen John was 17 years old.18. Birthday Just a jam session tune to me, I love it all around (the guitarand drum battle and the group vocals) are awesome Its a example of a classicrock n roll Beatles song.. This song was made up during a recording session19. Yer Blues A classic blues song, would never expect this from theBeatles.. Lennon wrote this song in India while "trying to reach God and feelingsuicidal" in India, he wanted to write a blues song, but was unsure if he couldimitate the likes of Sleepy John Estes and other original blues artists he hadlistened to in school.. John wrote this song based off of Bob Dylans characterMr. Jones.20. Mother Natures Son (McCartney) Like the acoustic feel, calming vocals. This song was inspired by a lecture given by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi while theBeatles were in India.[2][3] The same lecture inspired Lennons unreleased song"Child of Nature", the tune of which he later re-used for "Jealous Guy".21. Everybodys Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey (Lennon) Likethe pure rock influence on this track.. Its a tribute song to Yoko Ono asLennon referrers to her as his monkey .. Like the guitar work and uniquebackground noises.22. Sexy Sadie Like the distorted guitar opening.. lyrics and meaning areinteresting about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi had allegedly made a sexual advanceat one of the female members attending the course the Maharishi was teaching athis ashram.23. Helter Skelter (Paul) Love the fast guitar and rough/ aggressivevocals.. very dirty sounding, raw , this was the goal of the song , Like thejamming feel, again Im surprised this song sounds so good because of theinternal band fighting overall awesome song, sounds like the Foo Fighters or 3. the Cut Me Some Slack track with Nirvana and Paul24. Long, Long, Long (Harrison) A love song.. like the druum and slow vocalmix, which kind of sounds muffled.. very Peter Gabriel In The Air Tonightsounding I would describe this song as a acoustic folk song mixed with somepsychedelics..25. Revolution 1 A slower, rawer version of the more popular song, whichuses a lot of overbearing guitars.. Like the slower versions vocals jazz & bluesfeel (More relaxed).. uses horns. I like it, a good change in pace.26. Honey Pie (McCartney) Like the songs vocals plus its relaxed upbeatfeel.. This song pays homage to the British music hall style, which is awesome..Another great change in style.. Meaning: a famed actress, called only by theterm of endearment "Honey Pie", who becomes famous in the United States(referred to as the U.S.A. in the song), and her old lover, who wishes for herto rejoin him in England. The premisea humble admirer yearning for the returnof his loveris not unlike a typical music hall plot. In order to establish anappropriate, old-timey sound, crackles were added to the third line, "Nowshes hit the big time!", from a 78 RPM record.27.Savoy Truffle (Harrison) Like the club feel to this song, very jazzinspired sounding.. good vocals and instrumental work.. Meaning: About EricClaptons chocolate addiction, and indeed he derived the title and many of thelyrics from a box of Mackintoshs Good News chocolates.28. Cry Baby Cry Like the acoustic feel to this song.. a classic Beatlessong.. very good instrumental work on this track good vocal by Lennon(classic John Lennon)29. Revolution 9, Number 9 This song has a very creepy feel, verypsychedelic with its background noises very experiential30. Good Night (Starr) A classic lullaby by Ringo Starr, like the orchestravery calming.. John gave this song to Ringo to sing as a lullaby for his[Lennons] 5-year-old son Julian]. A very calming song, actually a good way tofinish the album. My favorite tracks: Back in the U.S.S.R., The Continuing Story of BungalowBill, Im So Tired, Rocky Raccoon , Why Dont We Do It In the Road?, HelterSkelterOverall I loved this album, it has a different feel to it than any other Beatlesalbum because of the feuds and fighting that was occurring. I find it amazingthat a band can fight, record their portions separately with differentengineers and the music can still come out sounding awesome. Its not the bandsbest album but it is their most unique and rough (raw) sounding. That why Ireally like it.. My review would be a 8/10 though because while I loved itoverall as I said the first disc has a leg up on the second which to me is justmissing some aggressivenessThe White Album, The Beatles , John Lennon, Ringo Starr, McCartney, Harrison,Eppy, Back in the U.S.S.R., The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill, Im So Tired,Rocky Raccoon , Why Dont We Do It In the Road?, Helter Skelter , Elton John,Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Maroon 5, The Who,Punk, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Buckcherry, Train, Mac Miller, Eminem, LilWayne, Elvis, Deep Purple, 15, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Kate Middleton, LanceMosstv, rkmloveshp, Yoko Ono, 1980, Madden, Slash, Motorhead, Good Night, SgtPepper, Abbey Road, Jet Gladstone, raw, Wings
