Reality- TV programmes with real people who are continuously filmed and designed to be entertaining other than being informative.

For example The Only Way Is Essex, Made in Chelsea and etc… Reality TV Programmes are mainly watched by teenagers and young adults.

Different TV shows

Drama- TV programmes which tells a story, portray life or a characters life. Usually includes conflicts and emotions through action and dialog.

For example soaps like eastenders, coronation street and hollyoaks. Depending on the drama series will depend on the target audience, there is a range of drama TV programmes which teenagers-elderly watch.

Documentary- This is a TV programme which provides a factual record or report. Some use pictures or interviews with people involved in real events to provide factual record and report. The target audience is around 40+, even though some people who are younger would most likely watch it majority of teenagers and adults wouldn’t find them appealing.

For example 24 hours in A&E, The Secret Millionaire, 16 kids and counting and Jaws: The great white Myth.

Comedy- This can be comedians consisting jokes intending to make the audience laugh,

they tend to be live shows. Not all comedy programmes are stand up comedians there are a variety of comedy TV programmes which are on E4 for example friends, how I met your mother, the big bang theory and etc…

There’s also animated comedy TV programmes on BBC3 for example Family guy and American dad. The target audience for these TV programmes are teenagers and young adults.
