Research for shots we want of the band

Shots of single membersHaving performance in their videos if very common for folk bands and artists. They are often shown playing their instruments as that as more important in folk, selling the music rather the the artists themselves.

Shots of the bandMost of the shots are straight on or at a slight diagonal angle, the same as shots of single members of the band. It appears to be common to have shots of the guitarists/bassist playing together

Instruments• A convention of folk/ folk-rock videos is to have close ups of the instruments, the artist is

generally more concerned with the music then selling themselves. Folk artists also tend to favor less commonly used instruments such as tambourines, whistles, xylophones, accordions, melodicas and ukuleles.

Conclusion

• From looking at and collecting images from several different videos of folk artists and bands, I’ve discovered they tend to use the same angle shots for most things. Almost all shots are front or side on at eye level. The shots vary slightly when it come to instruments; it’s a lot more likely to find shots from above or behind. Otherwise they tend to stick to straight on or slightly side angled shots. The majority of folk videos are performance.
