(Marion, USA, 1931-Paso Robles, id., 1955) American Actor. After studying drama at New York, he began his career working in small theaters of Broadway. His performance in The immoralist (1954) play by A. Gide, it earned him the opportunity to sign a contract in Hollywood, where, the following year, it rolled East of Eden, directed by Elia Kazan. In 1955 he started the orders of Nicholas Ray to star alongside Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo, Rebel Without a Cause, in which he portrayed Dean misunderstood and at odds with the reality around him teenager. Shortly after it appeared in Giant (1956), directed by G. Stevens from E. Ferber's novel, in which Dean, this time a pawn of rough manners, consolidated its young maverick image. This image as well as its strong opposition to the Korean War and his tragic death in a car accident shortly before the premiere of the film, became a symbol for a generation marked by their desire for freedom and in constant conflict with their elders .
