During this task I learnt many skills that would help me in my further tasks, I also achieved the things that I set out to achieve in my brief. Different Photoshop shortcuts I learnt were: Ctrl + d (deselect), Ctrl + Shift + d (reselect), Ctrl + t (transform), Ctrl + j (duplicate selected layer), Ctrl + Alt + z (step backward), [ (decreases brush size) and ] (increase brush size). Different features of a generic music magazine in general I learnt are: masthead, centre of visual interest (CVI), teaser story, secondary stories, splash/puff, competitions, price, barcode, website, consistent colour scheme and consistent typography. I also learnt how to lay out these features on a music magazine. For example the masthead goes along the top of the magazine and must be in the biggest font size; also the CVI can also be positioned in front of the masthead to demonstrate that it is more important (the masthead must still be legible). I used natural lighting for my CVI on the front cover and trialled many different camera angles before choosing the best one to fit in with the layout I had in mind (medium close-up). Lastly I learnt the conventions of a pop magazine, this was the foundation upon which I could strive for success in terms of achieving the look I wanted. WHAT DID YOU LEARN
