Roulette ExplainedRoulette is available at all of the casinos

recommended by CasinoOnlineAustralia.net.au.

In land based casinos the game involves a spinning wheel, which has been divided into a number of marked pockets. A small white

ball is dropped into the wheel, and will eventually settle into one of the pockets. The

player must place a wager on the table on which pocket they think the ball will land in.

At online casinos a real spinning wheel is not used, and is instead

simulated via advanced technology.

The player will still see a spinning wheel, and witness the same

process of white ball being dropped in. The virtual wheel works very much the same as a real wheel,

using a random number generator. It is said that a casino expert cannot tell the difference between a virtual

and real roulette wheel.

Roulette Variant Differences

There are 3 main variants of Roulette; French, European and American.

European is the most popular as it it’s the easiest to play and has a

favourable house edge.

The French and European roulette wheel both have 37 numbered

pockets, from 0 to 36, whilst the American wheel has an extra 00 pocket, increasing the number of

options for the ball to land in to 38.

The game play and table layout is much the same in each variant of Roulette, so once you know how to

play one type, you should be fine with all 3. The wheel is the biggest

difference, and the French game also makes use of the en prison and la

partage rules, which we explain here too.

At the casinos endorsed by CasinoOnlineAustralia.net.au’s you’ll

also find contemporary variants of roulette and can enjoy multi ball or multi wheel games, or play for a

progressive jackpot.

House EdgeEuropean Roulette: 2.70% French Roulette: 2.70% American Roulette: 5.26%

As you can see, American roulette has the highest house edge due to its extra numbered pocket,

making it extra challenging.

Interestingly, in American roulette there is one bet that has a different house edge. The number 5 bet (0,00,1,2,3) has a house edge of 7.89%, which is

the highest of all game variants and wagers.

En Prison RuleThe en prison rule comes into play when

the ball lands in the zero pocket. The croupier will then place a marker over

every even money bet- effectively putting the wager ‘in prison’ for the

duration of the next spin.

This means the player gets to play the same bet, and if they win their original

stake will be returned.

La Partage RuleLa Partage, or ‘the divide’ is enacted

when the ball lands in the zero pocket.

All even money bets will be divided by two so the player receives half their original stake back. This reduces the house edge of even money bets to a

miniscule 1.35%

Roulette BetsIt is important to keep in mind that a

player does not have to guess the exact pocket the white ball will land up in, but

may choose to do so if they wish. Instead the player may bet on if the pocket will be red or black, or if the

pocket will be in the first, second, or third twelve. Betting options are clearly

marked on the roulette table and can be divided into Inside bets and Outside bets.

As with all games at sites recommended by

CasinoOnlineAustralia.net.au, the higher the risk, the greater the reward.

Betting on the exact pocket the ball lands in will payout far more then

guessing only the colour of the pocket, since one is a much bigger risk then

the other. How much each bet pays out will be clearly marked on the betting

table.

Placing Multiple BetsExperienced roulette players generally

place a number of bets per round, which allows for a balanced chance of winning at least some money back. For example, placing one bet on a specific number, another on red or

black, and a third on if the number will be the first, second, or third twelve,

balances out risk.

Page 14: Play Roulette at Online Casino by CasinoOnlineAustralia.net.au

It is likely that the bet on a specific number will not win, at least for a while, but the other two bets may

when, covering the cost of the initial wager. In this fashion, you can stay in the green until eventually the specific

number bet strikes it lucky.

Remember to keep betting on the same specific number; each time it

loses, the chance of it winning increases.
