Who Would You Rather Meet?Question 10

Josh Franceschi (You Me At Six)Julian Casablancas (The Strokes)Dallas Green (City and Colour)Brian Hugh Warner/Marilyn Manson

Throughout my research i have found out that out of all of the people that answered my questionnaire, people preferred to listen to ‘The Libertines’ more than any of the other bands. However, a very similar amount preferred ‘Enter Shikari’. The stronger of the two is an indie based band whilst the other can be classed as rock, alternative and post hardcore. This is what led me to my decision on the genre of the magazine and the people that it will be aimed at.

Another contributor to this is the fact that many people chose Marilyn Manson as their preferred person to meet. However, what I have noticed is that when answering , half of the people that chose him weren’t taking the question seriously. This has led me to the conclusion that I will aim my magazine at people who listen to indie/rock music such as You Me At Six and The Strokes which can be considered Rock based also rather than metal.

My magazine will also be aimed at people between the ages of 16 and 18 seen as this is the most common age group of people questioned and also quite a few of the people that were in this age group preferred listening to The Libertines in one of the later questions

In order to attract this audience I am going to use a range of pictures, some of which will include instruments. I am going to make the cover interesting with a contrast in colours as well as cover lines which will be of interest to my target audience.

I am unsure on the house style of my magazine but I have an idea. I would like to use the colours white and black. I would also like another consistent colour. Possibly Blue, Red, Green or Yellow. The layout will be neat. The typeface will be in a sans serif font. I would like to give my magazine a sense of professionalism . I intend to make it stylish . I don’t yet know what the feature article topic is going to be about.

How will I attract my target audience?

The clothing in the magazine are going to be two contrasting colours. For example one person will be wearing a black shirt whilst another will be wearing a white shirt. On the cover I am going to have the model wearing a band t-shirt that will be easily recognisable to the target population.

Who would listen to this music? The genre of music can be listened to by anybody, however the

stereotypical types of people that listen to this music are mid – teens who are thought to get up to no good and are frowned upon. They come from a healthy working family yet seem to outcast themselves from this. Another type is your typical indie kid. Likes to wear tight jeans and pumps. Also likes to follow the crowd and listen to whatever will help them to fit in.

These are the three magazines I will be taking inspiration from are Kerrang, NME, and Rolling Stone.

I have chose these because they are presented perfectly and look attractive. Also they are along the same genre of music that I wish to follow.
