The colour scheme changes throughout the issues of KERRANG. In this magazine, the colour scheme is black, white, yellow and blue. The

colours stick out on the black background.

Target audience is mainly teenagers, as they show the new bands, such as ‘Bring Me The Horizon.’ Also its mainly for rock, metal and punk lovers.

This magazine follows many conventions for the rock genre. The band is dressed up in dark clothes, slightly gothic. Also, they are in more

‘street’ clothes with hats on, earrings and tattoos.

Pop

Mainly bright, vibrant colours consisting of pink, purple blue making it stand out to the audience.

Masthead sticks out, with the purple on the white

background. Top of the Pops masthead also shows the

genre, which is pop and clearly shows it is a music

magazine.

Target audience of ‘Top of the Pops’ is young teenage girls, due to the colour scheme of the magazine and also the artists used, such as on this issue, ‘Cher Lloyd’ and ‘1D’

The artists are represented more in the pop genre as they are wearing bright colours, which

links with the magazine. They are also more dressed up, and look more organized than the artists in different genre magazines. They are against a white wall and also look much more

appealing than they do for genres such as rock

ClassicalThere is a much cleaner finish to the magazine, and it’s also plain, which gets the magazine straight to the point. The main colour scheme is white, red and black.

The artist is against a white background which makes her stand out from the magazine. She as also holding her instrument.

The white background almost shows the clarity of the music, as it is pure and easy to listen to. The mast head is in serif font, showing the genre of music is old and highly respected in the music industry.

The target audience of this magazine is the older generation, which is

probably from 40+ years old due to the specific genre of

music

DanceThe artist is represented much more fun than the others as he is positioned with his arms stretched out. Also he is wearing bright clothes, which also emphasised his personality

The colour scheme is blue, yellow and white, which

are electric colours, which shows the uniqueness of the

magazine as they usually have a plain background.

The main target audience of mixmagis male (72%) and female (28%). They

tend to be urban and single. They have a high disposable income and

spend money on; nights out, clothes, music.

The magazine is conventional to the genre as you associate dance music with lots of colours, and this compliments it perfectly. Also the font is sans-serif, which also shows how fun the magazine is.
