How does your media product represent

particular social groups? A man is the leader of the Satanists which presents men as the stereotype of being more dominant than women and more likely to be in a leadership role. Men are also presented in this way when one of the male Satanists is easily able to dominate the main character physically when he chokes her.

There is more men than women in the Satanist group, suggesting that men are tougher and more likely to be in such a group

Teenagers are presented as being rebellious, anti-social, law breaking, defying the common religion, sinful, and harmful to other teenagers in the case of the Satanists as seen from the plot, the dark, abandoned setting with its warning signs and their dark costume and make- up. However teenagers are also presented as innocent, youthful and curious through our main protagonists appearance and her exploration of her surroundings.

Satanists are presented as being evil from the mise en scene and their willingness to harm a young girl. Our chosen setting and demeanor also enforces this presentation.

Through are young female protagonist during the titles women are seen as weak and vulnerable, from the way which she is easily attached and unable to defend herself. However through the female Satanist women can also be seen as strong but also evil.

Although it is not seen in our piece in the rest of the film our protagonist would have gone on to present women and young people as stronger, smarter and more powerful than than most of her enemies.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media

product and why? Due to the nature of our product it would need to be distributed by a film, television or online broadcasting institution as it is intended for a large audience.

I believe the Lions gate entertainment coporation as a film studio and distributor may distribute our media product as from all the films our group analysed it was the most common distributer of films in the thriller genre. They are known for working with independent companies such as we are and produce a lot of thriller based films. We even used lionsgate logo in our piece to claim they were out distributer.

I also believe that 20th century fox may also have distributed our product as from all the films that I analysed personally it was the most common distributer of thriller genre films.

Who would be the audience for your media product? The ideal audience for our piece would be young women in their late teens and early twenties (17-25). We have seen from the target audiences of the respective films that we have studied that it is this age and gender bracket which enjoy films of the thriller, in particular the supernatural thriller genre.

How did you attract/address your

audience? We both addressed and attracted out target audience by:

Casting actors around the same age as the members of our target audience to make the characters more identifiable to them.

Having a female lead.

Including some rock music in our piece similar to the type of rock music our target audience is likely to enjoy.

*We have actors of both genders which leaves the possibility of also being able to attract some males in the target audience age bracket.*
