ABOUT THE FILM
Psycho is a classic American horror, thriller film directed and
produced by Alfred Hitchcock.
The classic thriller was released in the UK on the 4th August 1960.
The shower scene is a very famous scene in the film and it very
well known of.
It was written by Robert Bloch (novel) and Joseph Stefano and
Composed by Bernard Herrmann.
DETAILS
The music for the film was produced by Bernard Herrmann.
The editing was by George Tomasini.
These producers created edits and sounds going from slow
to fast movement and tempos to create tension and a
dramatic build up for the audience.

The shower scene is a scene everybody can recognize the
minute they see it, accompanied by Bernard Herrmann’s
aptly named track “Screaming Violins”.
THE SHOWER SCENE
The scene took seven days to complete.
There are extreme close up shots of Janet Leigh’s face in
the film to create dramatic effect.
The blood in the shower scene is actually chocolate sauce.
The shot of Janet Leigh flushing the toilet is believed to be
the first such shot in American cinema history.
The scene contains 70 cuts and lasts just 45 seconds.
