This shot is a split screen and shows two opposing shots. It shows two different characters walking up the stairs with one character walking with a case and the other with a ring on his finger. This shot includes dark colours and sets the scene throughout the video. The style is retro, the characters within the movie all seem to be wearing retro clothes which also can connect to the Romeo and Juliette idea .

This shot is a commercial exhibitionist, although the main characters in this music video are not the artist, the artist ensures that there is a close up on his face so the public are aware that he is also a very important feature in this video. There are these close ups and medium shots of John Newman throughout this music video, reinforcing his importance within this video.

This shot is medium, the girl in the music video is facing her back towards the camera. The three male characters are all staring seriously at the two other male characters with the girls, it shows 2 rivalries with one fighting over the girl and the other protecting the girl. This links with the whole theme and idea of the music video and that this video is based around the one male character and the girl and there relationship.

This long shot show the girl and boy running away from the other characters in a hurry. This ending is very abrupt and the audience do not expect this. The two characters get hit by the bus, this can relate to a more modern day version of Romeo and Juliette. This scene is dark and adds to the harshness and sadness of this event that happens. It creates a sad tone to the end of the music video, two lovers eventually get free to be happy together are then killed very unexpectedly.
