We see the ideas of showing the title and opening credits of a film in dynamic ways as a good idea, though because we are creating a horror sequence this is not the most conventional way to show titles – so we can only take aspects of this for our sequence. Though we still wish to connote the quality of our production through the credits, whilst linking it to horror conventions.

A good production

We have thought incredibly deeply into how we can show an effective production, and we see sound as extremely vital in horror films, as with this genre – it is integral that sound connotes the semantic ideology of darkness and the binary opposites between good and evil. We wish to use many different, dissonant, screeching sounds in order to convey the genre explicitly.

Things not to do in a production

We see that planning in depth is vital, so a lack of planning is something that we definitely wish to avoid. We also do not want to write essays on our planning, but still look at each aspect in order to create a mediated effect for the audience. We also need to make sure that we have permission for our location of filming, in order to make sure that we do not cross any legal boundaries. Finally, we need to make sure that performances during the opening sequence are as professional as possible, to add the to the realism of the horror sequence.

Setting + Make Up Techniques We have looked into how we can use specific techniques in order to make our production better. These include looking at make-up tutorials to make blood scenes more graphic and apparent. We can also use the enhancement of lighting to convey the scenes in a more disturbing fashion, and we aim to incorporate strong, gory shots in our opening sequence to connote the horror genre. We also looked at the ideas of making objects fall, as when a door falls it is able to make the cut out fall straight through in a realistic manner without anybody getting hurt.
