What do you know about Film Trailers?

I don’t know an awful lot about film trailers, just that they are there to advertise the film in a short little sequence, normally they show some of the best scenes of the film in these so it will then interest the audience so they will want to go and see the film.

What are film trailers? is an advertisement or commercial for a feature film that will be exhibited in the future at a cinema.

Why are they made? they are made so it advertises the film to the population so when it comes out in the cinema it will get great ratings and lots of people will want to go and see it because they found the trailer interesting and wanted to see what the film was about.

Who are they for? the trailers are for the population to see on their TV’s when breaks are on, and also when their sat in the cinema waiting for the movie to start they show trailers of movies which are coming out soon, so people will become interested in them and what to go and see them when they come out in cinema as they have become very intrigued by what is happening in the trailer.

it as not a lot of people will no about it.

How do they work? As well as using genre to gain our interest, marketing campaigns must also show us how a new film is different to others in the same genre: this is known as the USP ( Unique Selling Point) of the film. USP is what separates one film from another released at a similar time or within the same genre. The USP could be the innovative use of special effects, an unusual mix of genres and a popular star.

Where do you see them? You usually see film trailers either in the cinema before you see the movie which you have come to see, they play trailers before the main feature so people will become interested in the trailers and then will take note that they need to com and see that film when it comes out in the cinema. They are also shown on breaks when you are watching TV, this is also so you become interested in the trailer and will want to go and see the film. They also advertise movies on billboards, on the radio and on social networking sites also in film magazines. They are also advertised on side of buses and taxis in cities and also on the internet.

When are they released? They are usually released a few weeks before the movie comes out in the cinema, this is so people can see that it is coming out soon and so they can plan to go and see it when it does come out, this then get more hits for the film as more people will then go and see it, if you start advertising it when it comes out then it won’t get a good premier of

How the marketing package signifies the genre of the film and from the promotional material

The marketing package signifies the genre of film because the genre of the film should be clearly stated or visible by the picture what type of movie it is as then the audience will then understand what type of audience it is. If the picture on the packaging is a not really to do with the film then this can be seen as misleading and people will think they might be going to see a romantic comedy but really their going to see a horror, so it’s definitely important for the promotional materials to be about what the film is about or the audience may complain if it is not obvious.
