FIRST EVALUATION QUESTION - AS MEDIA STUDIES By Charles Clatworthy

Q1. HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT USE OR CHALLENGE CONVENTIONS AND HOW DOES IT REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS OR ISSUES? !

Our Product firstly uses the Thriller convention of low key lighting throughout the whole opening sequence. This can be shown in the screenshot from the first scene of our opening sequence.

Our Product further use’s Thriller conventions with a stellar use of the convention of Mystery. This is a key theme to the whole plot our of opening sequence as you never work out the mystery of what exactly is in the boot of the car.

The soundtrack used in our product largely conforms to the dark and airy soundtrack that is conventional to the Thriller genre. Our soundtrack has very spine chilling violin cords mixed in with a mild, deep percussion to really consolidate our dark and fatalistic mood of the opening sequence.

The editing used is largely conventional to the thriller genre. It is of a very slow paced, which conforms to setting a suspenseful atmosphere use of cutaways to show reaction shots and therefore portray action that is always prominent in the Thriller genre.

!!!

Q HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT REPRESENT SOCIAL GROUPS OR ISSUES?

Our product represents the social group of young delqiuents or hoodlums. Young adults that are fresh out of school or have just dropped out and given up. And spend a life of committing crime to try make money. Our product represents this social group firstly because of the costuming used. They wear rugged clothes with hoods to try cover there identity , they do this because they are delinquents and criminals. For example one of the main characters bemer always wears a hat to constantly cast a shadow over his face.

The characters actions and dialogue in our product represent this social group of delinquents and the social issue of organised crime that no one seems to be convicted for. In terms of dialogue they swear at each other aggressively and Bemer talks about his experience in crime, therefore representing the social issue of how prominent crime is in our society. There actions in the sequence is them committing a crime, that we never find out what the crime acutely is. These actions therefore convey the social group of delinquents.
