What kind of media institution might distribute

your media product and why?

IPC has been associated with a wide range of magazines over the years including: country, horse-riding, shooting/firearms, sailing/yachting, gardening, cycling, photography, railway, birds, golf, home, TV, music magazines, etc. I would get IPC to distribute my magazine because they publish very popular and successful magazines which have popular websites as well e.g. NME, and they are a multi-million pound business which means that they are perfectly capable. The main reason why I would choose IPC to distribute my magazine is because they currently sell only one music magazine (NME), that has a completely different style and genre. This means that my magazine would not be competing with any other magazine that is distributed by IPC and is therefore likely to get more market attention, and make more profit.

Bauer Media is an alternative institution that may be more appropriate to publish my music magazine because unlike IPC who publishes a wide range of magazine types, Bauer specialises into the music magazine and TV market and they have published many music magazines which have become very successful e.g. Kerrang. However Bauer are already publishing many Hip Hop/R&B music magazines, so I believe that being published by IPC will be more successful at competing with other music magazines.
