WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?

EDITING SOFTWARE

For our opening it was our first time using Adobe Premier and After Effects besides our preliminary task, so we played and expiremented further with the software. It was very difficult at first as most of the features on the software were advanced and hard to get used to, although it worked as an advantage for our film opening which looked much more professionally done. Editing our film using both PCs and a Mac made the editing fairly quick.

THE INTERNET

The internet also proved a fantastic resource for information such as viewing film opening examples and reviews from our target audience on films of the superhero genre. We also retrieved information from the internet such as details on major film companies and the film openings we had studied, resourcing to websites such as IMDb, then we distributed our finished film opening over YouTube to enable a larger audience and our target audience to see our final product, and within the first few days we had already received some positive feedback.

CAMERAS

In addition, we had to use professional cameras provided by our media studies teachers. These were fairly simple to use, control and get used to. However, there was a very minor error with the final product, as the aspect ratio changed for a short time half way through the film: the shots taken from the plane (holiday footage) were presented in 4:3 full frame, whereas the rest of the film was shot with a different camera and was filmed in 16:9 widescreen. However, this went unnoticed in test screenings so this could be considered minor.

UPLOADING

Our footage was shot digitally and stored on cassette, which unexpectedly presented problems with uploading our footage to the computer. Due to limitations with our cameras, we had to convert our footage to another cassette and upload to a Mac before transferring our footage over to our PCs, although thankfully the quality was unaltered.
