DLF5 Dussehra Carnival
Dates; 11-13 October 2013
Club5, DLF5, Gurgaon
Club5, Club Drive, DLF5 became the action hub for three days during Dussehra,
taking the level of festivities to a new high for kids and elders alike.
With Gurgaon typically not too well known for family festival celebration
options, residents of DLF5 were treated to a bouquet of entertainment on all
the three days, leading up to the grand finale – setting ablaze Raavan through
an animated, special-effects laser show.
Free entry, free gaming for kids with exciting gifts for winners, delectable
cuisines at subsidized rates – bull rides, reverse bungee jumping, Emcee driven
interactive games. The residents enjoyed all of these and more.
The first evening saw a comedy show with Chinese Monkey Mafia leading up to
a Rajasthani folk dance performance. And some soulful Rajasthani cuisine.
The second evening had in store a three-hour non-stop pulsating performance
by Darpan Dua DJ percussionist (jugalbandi) with the accompaniment of
delectable Gujarati cuisine.
Third evening: A 13 minute capsule of the epic Ramayana depicted through a
dramatic animated laser show (another green initiative). Traditional Dandiya
with Vipin Aneja’s live band in attendance. Accompanied with multi-cuisine.
More than 2200 people witnessed the three-day spectacle.
Set-up:
8000 square feet of the club lawns were transformed into an entertainment
power-zone with thirteen stalls in a village-style set-up (a green initiative using
wood and grass for ceiling thatches at the stalls), spreading out a retail
extravaganza with a variety of Indian handmade artistry items like bangls,
handicrafts, mehndi art, textiles and fashion jewelry. And gaming zones for kids.
The clubhouse foyer housed the F&B section.
Challenges:
Gurgaon saw one of the heaviest spells of rain on Dussehra. Within the
compressed time available, the outdoor event area had to be vacuum cleaned
to remove water-logging and do a complete re setup on the opening day.
