Oasis Defiantly Maybe
Adele 19
Adele’s album cover 19 is a very simple design. The picture of the artist’s face is of a very serious nature the expression looks thoughtful and sincere. The number 19 represents her age, and this in its self is a very personal statement. The light seen on one side of her face represents she’s ‘in the spotlight’ at such a young age (?)
Lily Allen Alright still
The bright colours and cartoon imagery looks fun and are very unrealistic. Lily Allen looks as if she has an attitude and a very unique image, while still fitting in with the gold and trainer wearing chav. Which shows she doesn’t take her self too seriously, This appeals to a quirky individual audience whom of which also do not take themselves seriously. She isn’t conforming to the stereotypical image of a young pop artist, She isn’t half naked and isn’t flaunting her body to sell her music.
Artic Monkeys Whatever people say I am that’s what I’m not
This cover is in black and white. Making it feel a little dated and retro. I feel the Artic Monkeys have a very careless attitude to their image and the message they are portraying. Smoking a cigarette with tired eyes and un shaven face gives a very casual look. They don’t give a fuck, but while this seeming very obvious to the audience I feel that the image is very strong and individual.
Just Jack All Night Cinema
The Black and White cover seems serious and honest. Looking straight into the camera the artist seems as if he’s being very sincere and wants the respect of his audience. The lighting on the cover highlighting the artists face seems quiet sinister as if he is under interrogation.
Oasis Defiantly Maybe
The Oasis ‘Defiantly Maybe’ album cover appears very laid back and chilled. The band seem relaxed in their surrounding of the music, The cigarettes and the alcohol, The setting also looks very retro and rugged. Which does conform to their indie rock and roll image.
Dizzee Rascal Boy in da Corner
The cover is brightly coloured which makes it very eye catching. ‘Boy in da corner’ suggests that he’s unlawful or rule braking the expression he poses with his fingers are ‘devil’ like reflecting this. The way he dresses is conforming to the stereotypical view of UK Garage, Grime genre.
Amy Winehouse Back to Black
The album cover is very dark reflecting on its title Back to Black, The artist looks lost and a bit confused, The writing is written in a retro styled text making her image become a bit 1950’s. This reflects well with the artist music, it’s very unique for its era and this reflects well onto the artists image.
