Camera shots and Angles

High Shot

• High angle shots are taken from above the subject.

• Having the subject below the camera it makes them look less powerful and less significant.

Long Shot

• The full size of the subject can be seen.• Some of the background can typically be

seen.

Medium Long Shot

• Shows the subject from the knee upwards.• Shows the surroundings that the person is in.• Can have more than one person in the shot.• Actions and poses are typically used.

Medium Shot

• Shows a person from the waist upwards.• Shows the person or object in more detail.• Some background van still be shown but the

focus will mostly be on the subject.

Close up

• Shows the object in more detail.• Less of the background is shown. • Typically used for ID and passports.

Low Shot

• Photograph is typically taken from ground level.• Makes the subject look taller.• Makes the subject look more important. • Background will typically be the sky or ceiling, not

much detail to be shown behind the subject.
