Reasons this might be importantOne reason why this may be important is because William and Carol Ouchi High School just opened a new gym. This presentation might make it easier for students who don't have access to  exercise equipment and assist them in bodybuilding. This may also help students who are not in shape become fit and healthy. Finally, the school population is mostly made up of minority students and minorities traditionally have the highest obesity rates in America.

Statistics show that... The rate of childhood obesity in this country has increased rapidly by the decade.

 Standards

36-2 :The Muscular System. The muscular system includes bones and joints and pushes substances such as blood, food and fluids throughout the body. Muscles work constantly, therefore needing a large supply of mitochondria  (which is found in the cell) and proteins.10-2: Mitosis.Mitosis is when a cell divides in two. Mitosis is affects three things in the body: growth, healing and replacement. Muscle growth and repair are vital to bodybuilding. This is the reason that mitochondria and proteins are essential and where diet plays a crucial role.

The importance of a proper nutrional diet.• High protein and high calorie foods help feed muscles and

increase growth.• Proper nutrition (more so than weightlifting) increases the

rate of mass growth.• Eating right also increases height.• Proper diet also increases the rate of mitosis which helps in

healing injuries and body growth.

Page 7: Body building at a young age

How does this happen?

• Growth occurs with proper diet which increases the rate of mitosis

• This rate increase naturally produces more cells.• Abundance of cells can produce more amino acids which

create proteins to help the body build muscle mass (as well as other things such as nails and hair).

• Mitosis affects growth, healing and replacement.• Growth and healing are vital to body building.

THE MUSCULAR SYSTEM                    • The muscular system is a structure of connective tissue that

runs throughout the body.• The muscular system also keeps the structure of the body in

place by connecting bone with muscle these certain areas are known as joints these joints are founded in places like knees elbows fingers.

Fun Fact

Proper diet is 85% of body building2.

Page 10: Body building at a young age

Genetics

• Another important factor is genetics.• Genetics can play a major role because some people

produce cells naturally faster than others.4

• Genetics can also affect the location where fat is stored5. • Genetics are inherited, therefore out of our control.• In the end, this all affects of mitosis.

How to get big

• When using weights, increased weight coupled with fewer reps (repetitions) yields better result. BE CAREFUL NOT TO STRAIN OR OVERWORK MUSCLES.

• Eat high protein foods which will increase stamina and build muscle.

• Get plenty of rest and sleep.• Follow these key ingredients to get big at a young age.

Facts and fakes.

• Weight lifting can stunt growth(fake).• Weight lifting can help release strees(Fact).• Weight lifting at a young age can decrease in life span.

(Fact).

Things to avoid for young teens.

• Produced supplements • Steroids• Overlifting• Daily workouts

Page 15: Body building at a young age

Why sould you avoid these.

• Taking produced supplements at a young age can damage your kidneys and digestive system simply because your body cant handle that much protein that is found in a protein shake.

• Steroids can cause physiological problems and also negatively affect your heart and lungs.

• Overlifting constantly can overwork muscles and wear them down making them weaker.

• Daily workouts can produce the same negative effects as overlifting by not giving your body time to repair and prepare for the next workout which makes it harder for you to gain muscle.

Page 16: Body building at a young age

the pros and cons• Powerlifting, competitive weightlifting, and bodybuilding are

not recommended for teens who are still maturing. That's because these types of activities can cause serious injuries to growing bones, muscles, and joints.1

• One definite benefit of a properly followed bodybuilding regiment is an increase in muscle mass.

• A reckless bodybuilding routine can result in deformed muscles and weak joints.

• Many teens who play sports have higher self-esteem than their less active pals.3

Page 17: Body building at a young age

one deformed muscle are dimples

Page 18: Body building at a young age

How are defects caused

  • A defect like deformed muscles can be caused by heavy lifting,

inproper diet or lack of rest.• As a result of weightlifting muscles wear down and if not given

enough protein or rest muscles can form improperly.• Defects can easly be avoided by simple steps and techniques

Page 19: Body building at a young age
Page 20: Body building at a young age

Easy and proper steps to decrease chances of getting defects.• Eat foods with high calories and proteins.• Get plenty of rest after a good work out. DONT BE ACTIVE.• Get plenty of sleep.• Dont overwork muscles. Different parts of the body should

be worked on different days. Also,  switch routines.  • Changing it up helps avoid injuries and may balance muscle

development.• DONT TAKE STEROIDS!!!!!!!

Page 21: Body building at a young age

How does this help.

• It educates the reader about the body and  the proper nutrition to help recover after a good work out.

• To know that growth hormones reproduce during sleep.• Being active after a workout stops your body from repairing

and leaves mucles weak and sore.• Over working leave muscles weaker than it was before.• Switching routines stops muscle from adapting to the same

work out which always keep the muscle from working out.
